eJoule raising Series D for production capacity of high performance single crystal Cathode Active Material (CAM) for Electric and Aerial Autonomous Vehicles

eJoule Inc, a California company, will present at the Silicon Dragon CES 2026, the 9th annual look at top tech trends from Silicon Valley to Asia, highlighting innovators in electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous vehicles (AVs), aerial systems and supply chain technologies.
eJoule will discuss how it has improved and simplified the synthesis and production of lithium-ion cathode active material (CAM) — the most expensive material input for lithium-ion batteries and the component that largely determines maximum energy capacity. eJoule’s CAM meets the specifications and performance standards required by supply chains for electric vehicles, autonomous aerial systems and other high-performance applications. The company is currently raising a Series D to expand plant capacity to serve those markets.
At the core of eJoule’s production innovation is its patent-protected and trade-secret DCP® (Dynamic Crystallization®) process (38 issued patents, 44 pending), a closed-loop, modular and scalable solution-to-powder thermal synthesis method. The process converts liquid droplets of engineered chemical solutions directly into cathode powder in a single thermal step. Each droplet contains the full metal salt and dopant profile, ensuring uniform incorporation and eliminating variability associated with co-precipitation or multi-stage calcination routes.
“Our proprietary process eliminates the need for traditional precursors by producing single crystal cathode particles directly from solution-phase droplets. This allows precise control over dopant composition and coating, which is critical for high-performance lithium-ion cathode material,” said Liang Chen, Ph.D., CEO of eJoule Inc.
eJoule plans to build CAM production plants scaled from 1 GWh to 40 GWh (up to ~50,000 MT capacity). Plants are built in modular sections with an architecture similar to semiconductor facilities. Due to the modularity of the process, low water usage and controlled waste streams, plants can be sited in many locations. eJoule reports a lower carbon footprint and lower overall water consumption versus conventional processes; the precursor-free approach also avoids difficult-to-handle sulfate waste generated by traditional methods. Under comparable production capacity, an eJoule plant can be built at lower cost and on a smaller parcel area than conventional facilities.
