Vigilante Billy dons a Santa suit for a bloody slay ride through the naughty list — including a controversial Nazi‑killing scene that went viral on social media.

With an 84% Rotten Tomatoes score, the film is getting rave reviews and is on pace to be profitable.

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12, 2025 — Cineverse (Nasdaq: CNVS), a next‑generation entertainment studio, and Bloody Disgusting, its horror division, announced that the unrated version of Silent Night, Deadly Night premiered in theaters this weekend on more than 1,600 screens across North America.

Critics have praised the film—The New York Times called it “a delightfully trashy entry in the seasonal subgenre,” Slash Film wrote it “has something pretty loud and timely to say,” and IndieWire described it as “a strange holiday rom‑com with a gnarly edge.” As of 9 a.m. ET on December 12, the film holds an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film features a hotly debated scene in which Billy Chapman kills a room full of Santa Nazis; that sequence has gone viral online and generated significant conversation on social platforms.

“Silent Night, Deadly Night brings cult fans the reboot they’ve all been looking forward to. We’re thrilled by the positive reactions to seeing Billy Chapman back in his bloody glory in time for the holiday movie season, and that the film is on pace to be a profitable part of our growing slate,” said Yolanda Macias, Chief Motion Pictures Officer of Cineverse. In addition to theatrical distribution, Cineverse holds rights across all windows, from TVOD and physical home entertainment to streaming.

SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is distributed by Cineverse in North America and opens this weekend in StudioCanal territories — the UK, France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Benelux and Poland — via the Sixth Dimension genre label.

Billy Chapman returns to theaters in the unrated reboot of the franchise. Silent Night, Deadly Night is written and directed by Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, V/H/S/85) and stars Rohan Campbell as Billy and Ruby Modine as Pamela, alongside Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown and David Tomlinson.
